Give Thanks to Great Stylists

Have you thanked your stylist lately?

This isn’t a petition to get bigger tips or ask for a pay raise. This is a genuine appeal to speak from your heart and let your hair stylist know that you appreciate the work they do.

If you’ve found your “one,” that stylist that speaks to your hair like it’s their spirit animal, then you should let them know how grateful you are. We’re not talking about taking them on a vacation or buying them a new car (though they wouldn’t be opposed). We’re just talking about letting them know that you appreciate what they do. That you notice the care and intent they put into your hair. That you appreciate the time they take getting to know you and your preferences.

Here’s the thing, at Hologram Salon our stylists work their tooshies off to give you the best treatment and the best hair. “Doing your hair” is just scratching the surface of what a true hair artist does for you. Hair is your greatest accessory and they would climb Everest and wrestle bears for that beautiful mane of yours.

Not to mention that your stylist truly cares about you. Sure, your hair is where their passion and their art come out, but styling, cuts and colors are a deeply personal relationship. We don’t have to tell you that you are putting all your trust into the hands of your stylist. They cherish that trust and nurture the vulnerability that hair care can bring.

Can we just say one more thing? Do you know what it takes for hair stylists to go achieve level 1, level 2 or master stylist credibility? Years and years of training, numerous intensive certification programs, sweeping up literal tons of hair, long days and nights, tough teachers and mentors, clawing their way up in an incredibly competitive industry and dealing with fussy and grumpy clients (not you, of course!).

To be clear, we are not trying to stack up points for a sob story or asking for a concert of tiny violins. Every stylist at Hologram does what they do because they LOVE it and they wouldn’t change a thing about how they came into the industry. But it’s important to know the passion and dedication that it took for them to get to their station.

So, here’s what you can do if you really want to let your stylist know that you are grateful for their work and their art.

Just write a little note. It will mean the world to them. We’ll get you started…

Dear ______,

I can’t tell you how many compliments I get on my hair and it’s all thanks to you.

You do (x, y, z) to make me feel special and taken care of.

You make me feel like (insert emotion and expletive here).

I am so thankful I found you and I appreciate (personal comment) about you.

Feeling extra thankful? Here are some simple gift ideas that will really send your stylist swooning. Nothing over the top, just small things that come from a good place. You can give:

  •  Coffee gift cards (hint: your stylist probably prefers the local shop to Starbucks)

  • Who doesn’t love a manicure or pedicure?

  • Bring in a box of bagels or donuts for the team

  • A cheesy hairstylist coffee mug

  • A ridiculous hair-themed t-shirt

  • Literally ANYTHING! It’s the thought that counts.

We hope we’ve made it clear that this isn’t about getting gifts or bigger tips. Your hairstylist needs that ego boost and validation just as much as you do. In the end, it’s just about expressing your appreciation for a job well done and a relationship that you cherish.

Happy Thanksgiving! Keep spreading the gratefulness.
