PSA: Men! Put the Clippers Down!
During 2020 we got a pass on lots of things. Sweats all day, every day. Hygiene may have become a little more “meh.” And that “quarantine hair, don’t care” look happened with a universal shoulder shrug.
We get it. Salons closed for a while or availability became greatly reduced. We had to do whatever we could to get by. But now that we’ve pivoted and we’re coming back to a new sense of normal, it’s time to put the clippers down and get a real haircut. Men, we’re talking to you.
Enough with the DIY
It may have felt really nice to just cut your own hair at home or have a partner or family member do it for you. Simple, easy, clip, buzz, done. Again, we get it. It’s like using duct tape to solve all of your home repairs. It may not be the prettiest solution, but it gets the job done.
The thing is, that DIY haircut might get the hair out of your eyes, but it is not doing much else for you. Most people can spot a DIY haircut from a mile away. Uniform features, no blending, ragtag hairs that got missed, and a shape that doesn’t complement your features. Basically, we’re trying to be nice and tell you in a gentle way that your haircut just isn’t doing it for you, and it’s not doing it for the ladies, men, associates, clients, parents and anyone else you might be trying to make a good impression on.
Sorry to be blunt, but we’re just trying to look out for you!
Men, your hair matters
When it comes to hairstyles and hair care, it’s usually the women who get all the attention. It’s all those weird systemic societal issues that we’re not going to get into here, but in decades past there’s been this stigma that men either don’t care as much about their appearance or it’s just not a focus that society deems as important.
Well, the times have been a-changing and men are stepping into the salon more and more often. It doesn’t matter what your gender or orientation is, we’ve all got hair and we all want to take care of it (and looks hot!). Men, we’re here for you and your hair matters!
There’s a reason we go to professionals
While your partner may have gotten very efficient with the clippers and might have even learned a trick or two during quarantine, those few months of experience are not comparable to the years of training, education and practice that your hair stylist has. Sure, your best friend has a scalpel and needle and thread, but you’re not going to let him perform surgery on you!
We go to professionals because they’ve got knowledge and experience that we lack. They have tools and an eye for things that we don’t notice. Our stylists can care for your hair and leave you feeling so spectacular in your new ‘do that you might just go home and toss out your clippers.
Men, we’re sorry if you thought your clipper skills were really leveling up. Maybe they were, and if we ever have to go back to quarantine again, you are in great hands (your own). But if the salon is open, it’s in your best interest to leave the haircuts to the professionals.
Not only are we going to give you a style that makes you look your best but we’re going to treat you to a relaxing, spa-like experience. Put the clippers down and book now.
