The Best Way to Incorporate Extensions Into Your Hair

Short of fairy tale enchantments, hair extensions are the only way to instantly revamp your look, add length, color, volume, density and a certain salon magic to your hair.

Ready, set, extend!

For all types of hair and all styles, we’ve got your extensions. Thin, silky, thick, wavy, curly, coils, we got you. We offer a variety of hair extension types, including sew-in beaded wefts, micro-links, tape-in and clip-in.

If extensions are a mystery to you, don’t fret. We will walk you through all the options and help you decide what’s best for you and your hair. Sew-in and micro links both use a bead to hold the extension hair onto your real hair. With the wefts, they are sewn in using thread through the beads. Microbead extensions involve threading your hair through small beads at the end of the hair extension.

And BIG disclaimer. We only use ethically resourced human hair. Recognize!

Pricing all depends on the method used, length, color of hair, and how much is needed.

Your new extension hair-care routine

Extensions are going to transform your hair and they’re also going to require a new form of maintenance. Don’t worry, you’re not going to have to sleep upside down or carry an emergency blow dryer in your purse. These steps are easy, and we’ll go through everything you need to know when getting your new ‘do. But here are the basics.

Brushing

Brushing your hair will need to be a daily activity to protect against tangles at the roots as your hair grows. Be gentle, and hold onto the bonds when brushing to avoid yanking them out. Work from the bottom to the top and make sure you have a hair extension friendly brush (we’ve got them in our salon). Take extra care when brushing wet hair, as this is when your hair extensions are most delicate.

 Washing and drying

You’ll also want to ditch any hair care products that contain alcohol and switch to hydrating sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to keep the bonds strong. Additionally, you’re going to want to wash and condition in one direction only. Vigorous rubbing and circular motions won’t do your hair any favors. After showering, always dry the bonds with a blow-dryer—even if you air-dry the rest of your hair—to prevent tangles.

Beauty sleep

If you want your extensions to last, don’t sleep on wet hair —it can weaken the bonds. It’s best to put your hair in a ponytail or braid before bed. A loose braid or pony will keep the bonds laying flat and prevent tangles.

Are hair extensions right for you? Well, with all the types of hair and styles out there, hair extensions (and hair!) make for very sensitive and personal decisions. We can sit down with you over a consultation and give you ALL the deets while addressing your questions and concerns.

One thing you can take off from your list of worries is your extensions looking tacky, unnatural or just plain bad. We’ve got extensions down to an art and at Hologram Salon our stylists are certified and some of the best in the biz. So you can be guaranteed that if you get extensions they are going to look natural and stunning.

If you have questions about extensions, please don’t hesitate to come in for a consultation. We know that sometimes people can be hesitant to ask questions about doing something new and different for them (we see you first-timers) but, please know that we love talking about our craft.

We love answering questions. Let’s do this.
