New Year, New Look? Our Favorite Styles for 2021

What did 2020 teach us? Well, to stock up on T.P. for sure. But it also ushered in an era of no-fuss, low-maintenance hairstyles. The “Quarantine hair, don’t care” movement made its mark on fashion.

In 2021 we can expect to see this natural, undemanding and easy to manage hairstyle trend continue, with some added retro throwbacks with modern twists.

Like every New Year, this is a time to create a new look and new habits. It’s definitely time to start a good routine with your hair and scalp. Is it time to try a new style? We think so!

Take care of yourself and make it easy by pre-booking your 2021 appointments.

The shag

Oh, this old mane? NBD, I woke up like this. The shag is our favorite style for 2021. It’s one part chic, one part no F’s given attitude, and one part 70s rock & roll lifestyle. It’s the embodiment of low maintenance and uncontrived glamor.

Lobs and bobs

Lop it off at the collarbone and call it done. Does the lob ever really go out of style?  Nope. And for good reason, it’s easy to manage and easy to glam up. While we’re on the subject of glam – our bets are still on the bob making a strong appearance as well. Think Old Hollywood meets the new Southern Belle. Or picture Uma Therman in Pulp Fiction. Or envision that 90s razor sharp chic look.

Bangs for days

Curtain bangs, wispy bangs, cropped bangs, sideswept bangs. We know that bangs can be very hit-or-miss, but if they fit your face they are a must-do. We love the look of great bangs paired with a high bun or loose braid.

Lay on the layers and tantalizing texture

Bring on the texture with layers on layers on layers. Make that naturally fine hair *pop*. The blunt textured cut is going to be in. Edgy, cool, choppy layers will be in. Textured fringe will be in. Easy layers and versatile length with a mid-length cut lets your hair color do the heavy lifting and leaves you with less labor on styling.

Embrace the curls

Weaving in and out of all these styles, we’re also going to see a resurgence in curls. The shag will be all about letting curls just do their thang. And we’ll see layering that adds to the natural “oomph” of those coiling locks. Expect to see big shoulder-grazing curls and even a modern version of the triangle (AKA pyramid) cut.

Any way you shape it, 2021 is looking to be a good year for hair and for you. With the emphasis on easy management, you can look forward to low key maintenance with high fashion hair.
